No, not lately. I got in a debate about it with a guy I worked with when he saw a picture of a nursing mother on the cover of a book we sold. This was well before I got pregnant. But I haven't had much opportunity to test the waters of public opinion yet by breastfeeding in the store or something (which I would do covered. Don't want her to pop off and flash everyone), but I find the whole debate interesting.
Even dogs have the decency to take their puppies under the bed and nurse in private. Sure if they nurse on the sidewalk it's not breaking any laws, but it's just poor etiquette. It's like PDA, even if a couple is making-out under a blanket you still know what they are doing and it makes people feel uncomfortable. Breastfeeding in public is like wearing a super high mini-skirt at a trucker convention. The pervs are going to stare. Don't get mad when they are foaming at the mouth for an "oops" moment. Personally I really don't care, I think it's a personal matter.
I don't think I would get mad if someone stared. I would get mad if someone told me that what I was doing is gross. Even if I am covered. But it is personal. If someone doesn't want to breast feed their baby in public, that's their choice to make. But it's also someone's right to choose to.
That should be the new slogan for the La Leche League. :) now when you've breast fed a baby on the floor of a Korean ticket booth at a fort with 2 Korean women cooing and talking about how fat your baby is, and you're not uncomfortable, than you know you're good. And by the way, in most states it is now legal to breastfeed in the back seat of the car while someone else drives. Just saying. :)
I will be watching, and just like Santa Claus, if you are naughty, I will hunt you down and feed you to my reindeer (I keep them in my shed). I reserve the right to delete any and all comment that make my feelgoods feel bad.
Did someone tell you it was?!?
